Andrea Dwyer has been a licensed Nursing Home Administrator since 1999. She earned her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and received her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies/Business with a minor in Business Administration from Towson University. Andrea has had the immense pleasure of working in varied areas of healthcare ranging from large CCRCs to smaller, more intimate post-acute facilities. Her experience ranges from for-profit, corporate healthcare environments to non-profit, privately operated communities of care.
Michele Buscher joined Sagepoint Senior Living Services in 1993 with a passion for senior care. Prior to working at Sagepoint, Michele completed her LPN at the College of Southern Maryland. Upon joining Sagepoint, Michele completed her RN, and in 2018 she graduated from Chamberlain University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, graduating with President’s Honors. Michele is a Certified Director of Nursing in Long Term Care through NADONA as well as a Certified Infection Preventionist. Lover of basset hounds, Michele has been married for 23 years and has one daughter. Michele is a native of Bryantown, MD.
Denise McCann joined the Charles County Nursing Home, what is now Sagepoint Senior Living Services, in 1993. Prior to working at Sagepoint, Denise completed her LPN at the College of Southern Maryland. She then went on to complete her RN in 1995. For most of her career at Sagepoint, Denise worked in long term care. Denise now oversees Sagepoint’s Assisted Living, Adult Day Services, and Home Care service lines. Denise recently obtained certification for Delegating Nurse and Case Management. She also recently obtained her Assisted Living Manager and Assisted Living Administrator licensure. Denise is a native of Southern Maryland.
Mike retired from Charles County Government August 2007 after 33 years of service, where he served as the Director of Public Facilities since 1990, he oversaw the management of the county’s Park System, Roads System, Environmental Services, Solid Waste and Recycling, Fleet Management, Inventory Control, Capital and in-house construction, Building Services and other related operations. He managed 350 employees with an annual budget of over 50 million dollars. Prior to being appointed Director of Public Facilities in 1990, he served as the Director of Parks and Facilities and Chief of Facilities for Charles County. He also worked for the USDA in Beltsville, Md. as a Research Assistant and served six years in the Maryland National Guard 121st Combat Engineers.
He is a graduate the University of Maryland, College of Allied Agriculture, majoring in Landscape Design/ Horticulture in 1970 and resides in Bryantown, Maryland with his wife of 43 years.
Joyce has worked in healthcare and health education in Charles County for more than 25 years. She was Wellness Center Coordinator and Instructor at the College of Southern Maryland from 1992-1997. During that time, she earned her board certification as an Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine. In 1997, she became the Director for the Women’s Health Center for what was then known as Physician’s Memorial Hospital, now University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM CRMC). In 2006, she became the Director of Community Development and Planning and Public Information Officer for UM CRMC until 2017 when she joined the Sagepoint Team.
Joyce has served on many state and local community boards and coalitions including the Maryland Governor’s Advisory Council for Physical Fitness, Charles County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Board, Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County Steering Committee, and Leadership Southern Maryland Class of 2011. She is currently the Vice President and President-elect for Zonta Club of Charles County.
Joyce has enjoyed living and working in Charles County for more than 30 years.
Prior to joining Sagepoint, Michelle was the Human Resources Director at a Federally Qualified Health Center in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Her purpose is to uplift, inspire, encourage and support others to be their best self. She hopes to motivate others to strive for their secret and known dreams irrespective of challenges and obstacles.

Jon currently serves as a consultant to the Anchor Pharmacy Group in Charles County and as a consultant to Hospice of Charles County. Prior to his retirement he was the owner of County Drug in La Plata, MD from 1991 until 2011. He received a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1962 and completed a pre-law program in 1963 from the University of North Dakota. He served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1969, at Fort Samuel Houston, Walter Reed Medical Center as a Department Supervisor and in Vietnam. He received a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University in 1980 and a Master’s Degree of Business Administration from Loyola College in 1981. He has served on numerous Community Boards and committees including: the Charles County Planning Commission, the Charles County Board of Appeals and the Southern Maryland Health Systems Agency. He is a current resident of Port Tobacco, Maryland.
Randy is a Certified Public Accountant and the owner of Lakes Investment Solutions Group located in La Plata, Maryland. He is also affiliated with Mudd & Lakes, LLC, a certified public accounting firm located in Waldorf, Maryland. He has over 40 years of experience in public accounting. He received a BS degree in Accounting from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1973. After graduating from college, Randy returned to Charles County. In addition to working in the accounting field, Randy was also an instructor at Charles County Community College before it became the College of Southern Maryland. Randy has served on numerous Community Boards and committees including past president of the United Way of Charles County and past president of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Charles County Fair Board for over 30 years and served as treasurer. He resides in La Plata, Maryland. Randy was attracted to serve on the Sagepoint Board of Directors due to his enhanced awareness for the needs of the communities’ aging seniors based on personal family experience.
Barbara graduated from Catholic University in 1977 with a BSN. She worked as a staff nurse, nursing supervisor, and nursing quality assurance coordinator at Southern Maryland Hospital until 1985 when she received her MS from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She worked as Assistant VP of Nursing Admin Services at Alexandria Hospital until 1988 when she accepted the then Director of Nursing position at St. Mary’s Hospital. She worked there as the chief nurse executive, during which time her title was changed to VP for Nursing and later the position expanded to VP for Patient Services. Barbara has received professional certifications and honors including: American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nursing Executives, Certified Nurse Administrator, Advanced, Phi Kappa Phi (national honor society), and Sigma Theta Tau, (national nursing honor society). She has published a number of scholarly papers.
Retired in 2000, Barbara has volunteered for many local organizations including the Board of Directors at Civista (UMCRC) as board chair and, over 3 three-year terms, committee member on Quality Council, chair, Executive Committee, chair, Vice Chair of the board, Nominating Committee, Credentials Committee, IT Steering Committee and Ethics Committee. She has been chair and committee member in a number of organizations including Healthshare of St. Mary’s County, Civista Women’s Health Center Women’s Advisory Council, Charles County Literacy Council, Mattawoman Creek Art Center, Sagepoint Advisory Committee and other community organizations. In a less formal way, Barbara regularly assists neighbors, friends and family with medication administration, doctor visits, and various tasks, etc. Barbara has been happily married to her husband Stan for 50 years.
A resident of La Plata since 1975, Freddie Curry spent much of his career working as the Assistant General Superintendent of Division Operations for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority where he retired after 34 years. Freddie also served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Freddie has served on the Board of Appeals in La Plata and currently serves as an election judge for the town. Freddie is an ordained minister, member of the Potomac River Baptist Association, and member of the Hampton University Minister’s Conference and the Minister’s Conference of Washington, DC. Freddie holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
In the late 1980s, Mrs. Hungerford was the first woman in Maryland to chair the board of both the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and the Charles County Economic Development Commission. In addition to her professional work, she is widely recognized for her many contributions to the charitable needs of the Southern Maryland communities. She recently was appointed by the Charles County Commissioners to the new Economic Development Department’s advisory board specifically for arts, entertainment and tourism. Mrs. Hungerford also chairs the newly created foundation board for Annmarie Garden, an endowed sculpture park and art center affiliated with the Smithsonian, located in Calvert County.
Prior to opening her advertising agency in 1977, Mrs. Hungerford was associated with the internationally acclaimed Washington, DC graphic design firm of Beveridge & Associates where she serves as VP of Public Relations.
Mrs. Hungerford resides in Indian Head, Maryland with her husband, Vince, and daughter, Pam.
Craig’s experience in the marketing and communications industry spans more than thirty years. During this time, Craig served as Editor for The World & I magazine, Public Information Officer for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for The St. Charles Companies.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York College of Pennsylvania. Craig is a current or former member of many community-based organizations to include: Charles County Board of Elections, Charles County Charter Board, Charles County Chamber of Commerce, Charles County Children’s Aid Society, March of Dimes Southern Maryland, Kiwanis International, Charles County Form of Government Committee, Charles County Board of Social Services, and Waldorf Lions.
Adrienne’s experience in the legal industry spans more than twenty years. During this time, Adrienne has served as attorney for Davis Law and Mediation, LLC, Associate County Attorney for the Prince George’s County Office of Law, Assistant State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney, and Adjunct Professor for Prince George’s Community College. She teaches Family Law for the People: Understanding the Law and Court Process to individuals who reside in the Southern Maryland region. She has been invited to speak to students at the College of Southern Maryland (La Plata Campus) about Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation).
Adrienne holds a Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Baltimore School of Law, a Master of Public Administration from the Pennsylvania State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morgan State University (where she graduated cum laude), and certificates in Municipal Administration and Public Finance from the University of North Carolina Institute of Government. Adrienne is a member of many industry-related organizations to include: Charles County Bar Association, Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution, Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence, Maryland State Bar Association.
