Sagepoint Senior Leadership

Andrea Dwyer has been a licensed Nursing Home Administrator since 1999. She earned her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and received her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies/Business with a minor in Business Administration from Towson University. Andrea has had the immense pleasure of working in varied areas of healthcare ranging from large CCRCs to smaller, more intimate post-acute facilities. Her experience ranges from for-profit, corporate healthcare environments to non-profit, privately operated communities of care.

Terry Weaver joined Sagepoint Senior Living Services in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Terry has served as a CFO in the healthcare industry for more than twenty years. During that time, he has worked in a wide range of healthcare environments, including post-acute care. Terry earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Frostburg State College with a major in Accounting and minors in Business Administration and Economics.

Michele Buscher joined Sagepoint Senior Living Services in 1993 with a passion for senior care. Prior to working at Sagepoint, Michele completed her LPN at the College of Southern Maryland. Upon joining Sagepoint, Michele completed her RN, and in 2018 she graduated from Chamberlain University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, graduating with President’s Honors. Michele is a Certified Director of Nursing in Long Term Care through NADONA as well as a Certified Infection Preventionist. Lover of basset hounds, Michele has been married for 23 years and has one daughter. Michele is a native of Bryantown, MD.

Denise McCann joined the Charles County Nursing Home, what is now Sagepoint Senior Living Services, in 1993. Prior to working at Sagepoint, Denise completed her LPN at the College of Southern Maryland. She then went on to complete her RN in 1995. For most of her career at Sagepoint, Denise worked in long term care. Denise now oversees Sagepoint’s Assisted Living, Adult Day Services, and Home Care service lines. Denise recently obtained certification for Delegating Nurse and Case Management. She also recently obtained her Assisted Living Manager and Assisted Living Administrator licensure. Denise is a native of Southern Maryland.

Currently Mike is Vice President of Operations for CCNRC, now Sagepoint, since January 2008. He oversees Dietary Services, Environmental Services, Building Maintenance Services, In-house and contracted Capital Construction. Recent projects include the Zimmerman Medical Arts Building, Memory Care and numerous alterations and renovations to Sagepoint facilities.

Mike retired from Charles County Government August 2007 after 33 years of service, where he served as the Director of Public Facilities since 1990, he oversaw the management of the county’s Park System, Roads System, Environmental Services, Solid Waste and Recycling, Fleet Management, Inventory Control, Capital and in-house construction, Building Services and other related operations. He managed 350 employees with an annual budget of over 50 million dollars. Prior to being appointed Director of Public Facilities in 1990, he served as the Director of Parks and Facilities and Chief of Facilities for Charles County. He also worked for the USDA in Beltsville, Md. as a Research Assistant and served six years in the Maryland National Guard 121st Combat Engineers.

He is a graduate the University of Maryland, College of Allied Agriculture, majoring in Landscape Design/ Horticulture in 1970 and resides in Bryantown, Maryland with his wife of 43 years.

Joyce has worked in healthcare and health education in Charles County for more than 25 years. She was Wellness Center Coordinator and Instructor at the College of Southern Maryland from 1992-1997.  During that time, she earned her board certification as an Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine. In 1997, she became the Director for the Women’s Health Center for what was then known as Physician’s Memorial Hospital, now University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM CRMC). In 2006, she became the Director of Community Development and Planning and Public Information Officer for UM CRMC until 2017 when she joined the Sagepoint Team.

Joyce has served on many state and local community boards and coalitions including the Maryland Governor’s Advisory Council for Physical Fitness, Charles County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Board, Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County Steering Committee, and Leadership Southern Maryland Class of 2011. She is currently the Vice President and President-elect for Zonta Club of Charles County.

Joyce has enjoyed living and working in Charles County for more than 30 years.

Michelle Nicholson is an empathetic, innovative and deliberate human resources professional with over 10 years of progressive experience in human resources management. She is a thought leader with a proven track record of talent engagement and motivation, strategic human capital planning and employment law expertise. Michelle received a Master’s of Arts degree from Webster University in Human Resources Management in 2008. She is currently working on a second Master’s degree in Human Resources Development from her alma mater. Her formal training is an added benefit to her high degree of professional integrity and insightful strategy to build collaborating teams to improve organizational efficiency and human interaction.

Prior to joining Sagepoint, Michelle was the Human Resources Director at a Federally Qualified Health Center in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Her purpose is to uplift, inspire, encourage and support others to be their best self. She hopes to motivate others to strive for their secret and known dreams irrespective of challenges and obstacles.

Kelsey Pearson, Director of Marketing, joined Sagepoint Senior Living Services in 2015. Prior to working at Sagepoint, Kelsey served as the Marketing Coordinator for both the Charles County Government’s Department of Economic Development and the Center for Children. Kelsey has also operated as a marketing consultant to assist small businesses with their marketing activities. Kelsey currently holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business and a master’s degree in Contemporary Communications from Notre Dame of Maryland University. In her free time, Kelsey skates for Team Maryland Roller Derby and the 301 Derby Dames, a local roller derby team in La Plata. Kelsey is a native of Southern Maryland.

Sagepoint Board of Directors

Our success can be attributed to the leadership and support provided by our volunteer Board of Directors, who are members of the Southern Maryland community.

Carolyn is the President of Core Healthcare Consulting, LLC. She retired from Anne Arundel Health System as Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services and President of Anne Arundel Diagnostics Imaging after 29 years. She also was the Vice President of Corporate Services at Civista Medical Center for 2 years. Her major accomplishments included: providing strategic planning and executive project leadership for the property development, AAMC hospital relocation and all construction at the 104 acre medical park campus in Annapolis, Maryland since 1984 and project leadership for the 2006 tower addition to Civista Medical Center. Carolyn holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s College and a Masters degree in General Administration from the University of Maryland University College. She is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and as a CPHIMS, from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Association for Medical Imaging, and the American Society for Healthcare Engineering. She is a resident of La Plata, Maryland.
Frank was the co-founder in 1970 of an information technology company which grew into a worldwide firm with over $1billion in annual revenues. Frank retired in 2002 and has served on the boards of nonprofit organizations such as Melwood, The Washington Home and Community Hospices, Alice Ferguson Foundation, American Association of Cell Biology, and the Committee for Economic Development. Frank graduated from Bowdoin College as a Phi Beta Kappa and earned an MPA degree from Cornell University. Frank is a resident of Fort Washington, Maryland.

Jon currently serves as a consultant to the Anchor Pharmacy Group in Charles County and as a consultant to Hospice of Charles County. Prior to his retirement he was the owner of County Drug in La Plata, MD from 1991 until 2011. He received a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1962 and completed a pre-law program in 1963 from the University of North Dakota. He served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1969, at Fort Samuel Houston, Walter Reed Medical Center as a Department Supervisor and in Vietnam. He received a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University in 1980 and a Master’s Degree of Business Administration from Loyola College in 1981. He has served on numerous Community Boards and committees including: the Charles County Planning Commission, the Charles County Board of Appeals and the Southern Maryland Health Systems Agency. He is a current resident of Port Tobacco, Maryland.

As a former Councilman for the Town of La Plata, Joe is an active participant in the happenings of both La Plata and Charles County. Joe has served as an Appointed Treasurer Chief Financial Officer for the Town as well as an Elected Treasurer for Charles County. Prior to his political career, Joe developed and built small commercial and residential projects in Charles County and also operated a full service car wash in Washington, DC. Joe has served in the Maryland Army National Guard and has been involved in many volunteer organizations including Christmas in April, Rotary International, and Lifestyles of Maryland. Joe has served as the Local President for the American Heart Association and eventually served as the Chairman of their Board for Maryland. Joe has also served as President of the Parish Council for Sacred Heart of La Plata, member of their finance committee, and was President of the Board for Archbishop Neale School.
Kathleen is a full-time Professor of Nursing at the College of Southern Maryland where she provides didactic and clinical education in acute care settings to Registered Nursing students. Kathleen retired from Civista Medical Center (currently Charles Regional Medical Center) in 2005 after 22 years of service as a registered nurse. During her tenure there, Kathleen held several positions including Clinical Nurse Specialist and Director of Nursing.

Sue is currently the Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for Old Line Bank in La Plata. Sue is also a member of the Finance Committee for Hospice of Charles County. Sue is a current resident of Newburg, Maryland.
Dr. McClure serves as Vice President of Professional Services & Plant Operations at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. His responsibilities include productivity enhancement, strategic planning, facility design, cost containment and quality improvement. Prior to rejoining MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in 2007 as Vice President of Professional Services, Dr. McClure served as Chief Operating Officer for Radiology Imaging Associates. Dr McClure had previously worked at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center between 1977 to 1988 as Special Procedures Section Chief and Director of Radiology. He received a Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in management (Health Care Administration) from the University of Maryland University College, Graduate School of Management. Dr. McClure is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and American Healthcare Radiology Administrators. He is a resident of La Plata, Maryland.
Sally Young Jameson has served in the Maryland House of Delegates 2003-2018 representing Charles County, District 28. She served as the vice-chairwoman of the House Economic Matters Committee and chair of the public utilities subcommittee. Sally was previously a member of the Economic Matters Committee, where she served as House Chair of the Joint Workers’ Compensation Oversight Sub-committee. Sally is a former Executive Director for the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Tri County Council for Southern Maryland and the Southern Maryland Agricultural Commission. Sally was the first female to chair the Southern Maryland Delegation, the Charles County Board of Zoning Appeals and the Greater Waldorf Jaycees. Sally is a resident of Bryantown, Maryland.
Dana is the Vice President of Nursing Services and Chief Nursing Officer for the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center located in La Plata, MD. Prior to relocating to Southern Maryland in April 2013, Dana has served in Nursing Leadership roles for 15 years, and has been a licensed Registered Nurse for more than 25 years. Her nursing career has included seven states and sixteen facilities in numerous care delivery roles and population groups. Dana holds a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, Arizona campus and Bachelors Degree in Nursing from University of Toledo. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Organization for Nurse Executives, and the American Nurses Association. Dana is a resident of La Plata, Maryland.
Dr. Kaufman has been Medical Director of CCNRC since 2006. He is a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Medicine. His post-doctoral studies were at Georgetown University Hospital, where he specialized in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases. Dr. Kaufman also graduated from The George Washington University with a Master’s degree in Information Technology, with a special interest in the use of electronic health records. He was certified by the American Medical Directors Association as a Medical Director in Long Term Care in 1999. In 2013 Dr. Kaufman retired after 38 years in the private practice of Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases in the southern Maryland area and is a resident of Fort Washington, Maryland.
John served in the US Navy for 26 years and is a Vietnam veteran. While stationed in Japan and Europe he flew electronic reconnaissance missions and served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer during his third squadron tour. Assignments stateside included faculty at the Naval Academy; USS Nimitz; and the Offices of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) and the Secretary of Defense. Retiring from the Navy, he worked as a defense consultant supporting OPNAV and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. Upon retiring from his consulting career, he began volunteer activities with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society serving on several committees and supporting special events. John is graduate of the US Naval Academy and holds a MBA from Marymount University, a MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a MS in Computer Systems Management from the US Naval Post Graduate School. John resides in McLean, VA and spends almost half his time in Charles County.
Linda is a 1976 graduate of the University Of Maryland School Of Nursing. She has worked as a Critical Care Nurse at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Southern Maryland Hospital Center and Civista Medical Center, where she also was Program Coordinator of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. She is a former President of the Maryland Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (MACVPR) and served on the Friends of Hospice Board of Directors for over 10 years. Linda also served part-time as a Clinical Nursing Instructor at the College of Southern Maryland though she has now retired. Linda is a resident of Swan Point, Maryland.
Wayne retired from the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in January 2007 after 34 years of government service. During these 34 years, Wayne maintained various positions in operations and logistics at the NAVAIR, AIR-6.0, the Naval Aviation Depot Operations Center, the Naval Aviation Logistics Center, and on active duty as a logistician with the U.S. Army. After retiring from NAVAIR, Wayne was employed with National Technologies Associates, Inc. where he worked as a Senior Depot Logistics Support Contractor. Currently Wayne is serving his second 3 year term as a Board of Director for the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UMCRMC). He is a member of UMCRMC’s Executive Committee, Finance Committee, and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the board. Wayne is a past Chairperson of UMCRMC’s Quality Council and has been active in many other organizations to include St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Charles County Veterans Memorial Committee, Milton Somers Middle School Mentor Program, Morgan State University Southern Maryland Alumni Chapter, and Fort Washington, MD Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Additionally, Wayne established the first Prostate Cancer Support Group in Charles County. Wayne currently resides in Waldorf, MD.

Randy is a Certified Public Accountant and the owner of Lakes Investment Solutions Group located in La Plata, Maryland.  He is also affiliated with Mudd & Lakes, LLC, a certified public accounting firm located in Waldorf, Maryland.  He has over 40 years of experience in public accounting.  He received a BS degree in Accounting from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1973.  After graduating from college, Randy returned to Charles County.  In addition to working in the accounting field, Randy was also an instructor at Charles County Community College before it became the College of Southern Maryland. Randy has served on numerous Community Boards and committees including past president of the United Way of Charles County and past president of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce.  He also served on the Charles County Fair Board for over 30 years and served as treasurer.  He resides in La Plata, Maryland. Randy was attracted to serve on the Sagepoint Board of Directors due to his enhanced awareness for the needs of the communities’ aging seniors based on personal family experience.

Barbara graduated from Catholic University in 1977 with a BSN. She worked as a staff nurse, nursing supervisor, and nursing quality assurance coordinator at Southern Maryland Hospital until 1985 when she received her MS from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She worked as Assistant VP of Nursing Admin Services at Alexandria Hospital until 1988 when she accepted the then Director of Nursing position at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She worked there as the chief nurse executive, during which time her title was changed to VP for Nursing and later the position expanded to VP for Patient Services. Barbara has received professional certifications and honors including: American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nursing Executives, Certified Nurse Administrator, Advanced, Phi Kappa Phi (national honor society), and Sigma Theta Tau, (national nursing honor society). She has published a number of scholarly papers.

Retired in 2000, Barbara has volunteered for many local organizations including the Board of Directors at Civista (UMCRC) as board chair and, over 3 three-year terms, committee member on Quality Council, chair, Executive Committee, chair, Vice Chair of the board, Nominating Committee, Credentials Committee, IT Steering Committee and Ethics Committee. She has been chair and committee member in a number of organizations including Healthshare of St. Mary’s County, Civista Women’s Health Center Women’s Advisory Council, Charles County Literacy Council, Mattawoman Creek Art Center, Sagepoint Advisory Committee and other community organizations. In a less formal way, Barbara regularly assists neighbors, friends and family with medication administration, doctor visits, and various tasks, etc.  Barbara has been happily married to her husband Stan for 50 years.

Christopher Norton works for Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) as their Managing Director for Electric Operations and Construction. Christopher possesses more than 30 years of progressive management and financial responsibility in Engineering, Construction, Operations and Quality Assurance including more than 25 years of construction field experience. Christopher is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Merchant Marine Officer and a Registered Professional Engineer through the State of Wisconsin. Christopher holds a Master of Business Administration from Barry University and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

A resident of La Plata since 1975, Freddie Curry spent much of his career working as the Assistant General Superintendent of Division Operations for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority where he retired after 34 years. Freddie also served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Freddie has served on the Board of Appeals in La Plata and currently serves as an election judge for the town. Freddie is an ordained minister, member of the Potomac River Baptist Association, and member of the Hampton University Minister’s Conference and the Minister’s Conference of Washington, DC. Freddie holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Mrs. Hungerford is currently the president of Hungerford Associates Consulting, a public relations and communications planning firm. She also founded Hungerford Associates Advertising, Design and Public Relations, a well respected advertising agency that offered marketing services to Southern Maryland and the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan region for over a quarter of a century.

In the late 1980s, Mrs. Hungerford was the first woman in Maryland to chair the board of both the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and the Charles County Economic Development Commission. In addition to her professional work, she is widely recognized for her many contributions to the charitable needs of the Southern Maryland communities. She recently was appointed by the Charles County Commissioners to the new Economic Development Department’s advisory board specifically for arts, entertainment and tourism. Mrs. Hungerford also chairs the newly created foundation board for Annmarie Garden, an endowed sculpture park and art center affiliated with the Smithsonian, located in Calvert County.

Prior to opening her advertising agency in 1977, Mrs. Hungerford was associated with the internationally acclaimed Washington, DC graphic design firm of Beveridge & Associates where she serves as VP of Public Relations.

Mrs. Hungerford resides in Indian Head, Maryland with her husband, Vince, and daughter, Pam.

Craig is the Program Manager for the Maryland Mortgage Program SmartBuy Program, offered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. In this role, Craig helped successfully launch this first-in-the-nation program which aims to make homeownership more achievable for individuals with college debt. Craig played an instrumental part in both the development of the marketing and public relations plan for this program.

Craig’s experience in the marketing and communications industry spans more than thirty years. During this time, Craig served as Editor for The World & I magazine, Public Information Officer for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, and Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for The St. Charles Companies.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York College of Pennsylvania. Craig is a current or former member of many community-based organizations to include: Charles County Board of Elections, Charles County Charter Board, Charles County Chamber of Commerce, Charles County Children’s Aid Society, March of Dimes Southern Maryland, Kiwanis International, Charles County Form of Government Committee, Charles County Board of Social Services, and Waldorf Lions.

Adrienne is a highly accomplished litigation attorney with experience in criminal, family, juvenile, civil, administrative, public contract, and employment laws. Adrienne also holds approximately thirteen years of alternative disputes resolution experience, including mediation observation training.

Adrienne’s experience in the legal industry spans more than twenty years. During this time, Adrienne has served as attorney for Davis Law and Mediation, LLC, Associate County Attorney for the Prince George’s County Office of Law, Assistant State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney, and Adjunct Professor for Prince George’s Community College. She teaches Family Law for the People: Understanding the Law and Court Process to individuals who reside in the Southern Maryland region. She has been invited to speak to students at the College of Southern Maryland (La Plata Campus) about Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation).

Adrienne holds a Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Baltimore School of Law, a Master of Public Administration from the Pennsylvania State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morgan State University (where she graduated cum laude), and certificates in Municipal Administration and Public Finance from the University of North Carolina Institute of Government. Adrienne is a member of many industry-related organizations to include: Charles County Bar Association, Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution, Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence, Maryland State Bar Association.
